In December 2019, an outbreak of a new disease was reported in Wuhan, China. The disease is called coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated as COVID-19. Most patients have a fever and respiratory symptoms. Measures are being taken worldwide and in the Netherlands to prevent the further spread of this novel coronavirus.
On 27 February 2020, the first patient was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in the Netherlands. Since then, more and more patients have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Current corona numbers in the Netherlands

* The actual number of infections with the novel coronavirus is higher than the number mentioned here. This is because not everyone who may be infected is tested for the virus.
** There is a delay between the day of hospital admission or the day of death, and the day on which those figures are reported.

The figures for the last few weeks are in line with the impression that the measures are working.
